Ceramic Love at Made By Hand, Cardiff

As you may know I was in Cardiff this weekend at Made By Hand, a fantastic craft show filled with talented makers. It took everything I had to not spend a fortune on everyone else's stands but luckily I came away with a christmas present, a plan of a swapsy with Benton's Menagerie, and a doll from Mud Rabbit who i'm in love with. (Picture below)

So as I managed to show so much restraint I thought i'd share some of the stands I adored with you, so you can see why (and maybe add some to your Christmas list too!) as I began writing this post I realised there was a strong Ceramic theme so i've gone with it and here are my favourite 3 ceramicists from the weekend...

Alex McCarthy Ceramics

My next door neighbour at number 25 was the talented genius and seriously lovely Alex McCarthy Ceramics. His work was so beautiful I kept making strange ooh noises. As if to to prove it's beauty one of his vases was selected for the front of the Made By Hand program (pictured above) Woo Hoo! I have my eye on one of his long necked copper vases in particular (he knows which one)

Another Ceramisist that i've been obsessed with for a long time is Alice Shields. We actually have her 'downstairs loo' sign already (that wasn't weird at all when we met). Her new jewellery collection is marvellous however, I don't know anything can beat her "I like you more than cheese on toast" badges! Everything is just so wonderfully quirky without being OTT... I LOVE IT.

So sorry for the poor picture here Alice - It looks much better in real life but was shockingly dark when I took this! It doesn't do your work justice!

With 2 ceramicists already I think I'll make it a trio with Katie Almonds work! each of her pieces are so damn adorable. We gave one of her tea cup and saucers as a gift last year and wanted to keep it (whats new?!) I could spend hours looking at her work. Every piece is so intricate and detailed, you can get lost in a teacup or in a bird house and easily feel an overwhelming need to hang her mini ceramic wreath on your Christmas tree (but how could you bear to put it in a box after Christmas?! )

I better stop now otherwise I will have to go onto websites and click the 'add to cart' button and with christmas coming I can't afford to buy myself things! I'll leave you with a picture of my Mud Rabbit lady. Don't forget that box below if you want to sign up to blog updates :D Happy Wednesday!
