Hello lovely ones!
I know some of you won't like me mentioning the C word but I'm afraid it has to be done for this post as it's specifically C word related. I've been working on the (are you ready for it...) Christmas Collection since ...well actually since Christmas Eve last year when I sat down having finished all my orders and thought 'well, what do I do now?' So I knit a Santa Hat just for fun and one thing lead to another! In February I sat down and designed more products, created the patterns and knit prototypes then in May me and my lovely knitters slowly started making stock so now I have plenty of newness that I can't wait to share!
Clearly I've waiting a long time to share these with you and so I'm taking this chilly Autumnal weather as the green light to release the Christmas Cheer and Chunky Knit! So here it is, as I wrote on my post-it last week (I'm not even joking) 'Christmas Lines a-go-go'
First up are the new Personalised Santa Sacks, soon to be exclusive to Notonthehighstreet as they're featured in the Christmas Catalogue. As ever, they are hand knit with my big needles, sewn together (again by hand... try getting that under a sewing machine!) the plaited red cord is added and then the optional personalised letter is stitched onto it. All to make a truly special, Santa Sack that can be used year after year.
Lets stick with the 'things to put present in' theme and next we'll head to the Christmas Stockings, you may remember these from last year ...
Well this year, of course they're still around; they're classics! but they've also been updated (and I'm a little bit in love with the new version if I may say so...) There's now a red and white striped version of the stocking. It's fun and festive counterpart, hand knit and carefully shaped (for greatest present filling potential) finished with a leather strap which makes it ideal for hanging on the bed, mantel, banister or door.
Once you've decided on white or striped then it's a question of size; small are perfect for decoration and a good amount of stocking fillers whereas large are a brilliant replacement for a santa sack to stuff full of serious presents (as opposed to the none-serious stocking fillers), measuring around a meter long (diagonally from top left to bottom right aka back of ankle to tip of toe) there's plenty of room for presents. My advice is to consider who the stockings for - If it's a gift for yourself it really ought to be as big as possible for other people to fill.
Now the official release of the Santa Hat, cosy and fun these pom pom adorned beauties are the talk of the Christmas Dinner Table (speaking from experience - I practically had to fight to keep it on my head instead of someone else's last year...Friends or not, you're not getting my Santa Hat love!) No options on this one, it's available in one size (although as each is different, if you have a particularly large or small head let me know and I can have a look to see if any would work better for your Santa Hat needs)
And now to the cherry on top - so to speak - that many of you have seen, and some have already pre-ordered! My absolute favourite product this year, the little Santa Hat Tree Topper (and Bottle Cosy) I was worried in June that I may never want to see another santa hat again in my life - having knit 250 of them in a week for a notonthehightstreet press event - but luckily it didn't dampen my spirits for these quirky little bundles of knitted joy. I can't help but smile when I look at them and I'm blown away by the reaction they've had already (thank you SO much <3 )
Each one is hand made including the pom pom, so uniquely quirky and individual. My wonderful knitters have helped me wrack up some stock so I've got hundreds of these adorable toppers ready to go (any left over will be going on the top of bottles I give people for Christmas to save wrapping) They come in a little box and I've had labels made for them so i'm quite excited!
So there you have it, Christmas has well and truly hit the studio. I can't wait to hear your thoughts and see which the favourite items are. This time of year really is Chunky Knits time to shine so I'm really excited to see what it will bring,
Thanks for visiting! Take care,
