2018 Christmas Collection Launch
IT’S FINALLY HERE!
The collection I’ve been working on for a year launches tonight…and yet I’m still behind hahaha I’m going to blame Arm-ageddon and lets not stress about it. Details below of what’s still to come but for now, shall we just enjoy all the new bits that ARE available. There’s a short intro to each item and you can add it to your cart from here or click on the picture for more info and images….
My Terrible Timing
I also need to warn you about ‘the other thing’ - back in March, yes March of 7 months ago, I started looking for a premises to move LAD into because we’ve massively outgrown my home studio. I was desperate to be in somewhere by September at the absolute latest so naturally, in typical poorly timed fashion - I’ve finally found one and I’m moving into it this week. We’re doing everything we can to not let it interfere with orders but I do want to ask you to bare with us a tiny bit for the next week or so! If you’re order isn’t despatched straight away it’s likely that we’ve packed the tape dispenser away and can’t remember which bloody box it was in.
So please forgive me, and while chaos ensues here let’s take a breath and have a look at all the BRAND NEW KNITTED GOODIES AND KNIT KITS IN THE CHRISTMAS RANGE THAT’S LAUNCHING RIGHT THIS SECOND NOW!
(I’m so excited)
Hello Ready Mades
Lets start with the new items in the Ready Made Collection shall we? These beauties are made by myself and my amazing team of knitters who I rely on so heavily all year round in preparation for this time of year. I really hope you like what we’ve been working on!…
I have to start with these beauties because they make me so happy. I already have hundreds around the house because they just add amazing colour and texture - You can essentially design your own decorations adding your favourite components and choosing your colours. Start with a pompom, then add a tassel, an initial or both and choose your favourite colours…They basically all look amazing together so you can’t go wrong.
pompom decorations - sets
If one decoration isn’t enough then you can also get them in sets of 2-5. Without wanting to sound like a used car salesman - the more you buy the more you save.
The deal with the sets is that you can get any combination of colours but the style of all of them needs to be the same i.e. you could get a set of 3x ‘pompom’s with an initial’ and choose different coloured pompoms and different initials for each of your 3 decorations …but you couldn’t get one with a tassel on too… does that make sense? Hopefully! Here they are…
The New Granite Stocking
Our latest addition to the popular Chunky Knit Stocking range. We started with Natural White then brought out Striped and now it’s super cool Granite. I absolutely LOVE these in Granite, they keep the classic cosy look from the big knit but are also super modern and cool because of the colour. YES PLEASE!
On the listing for this and the other Stockings, you’ll see lots of new options… allow me to explain below *Excited face*…
Add it on
This leads me on beautifully to the next bit of newness…We’ve basically mixed the new Pompom decorations with the Stockings so you can add on a pompom, tassel, initial or a Word (I know, they’re new!) We’ve teamed up with the AMAZING crowd from The Letter Loft who’ve made us letters and words in a bespoke size so that they hold their own with our big knits!
All of these components will be sold separately (once I set up the listing) but at the moment they’re only sold in conjunction with other product. This works because the other products ‘pay for’ their postage and other boring bits like that, therefore they are a lower price as an ‘Add-On’ than individually. If you order lots of products and want an add on specifically for one piece please let us know in the notes section what you want it on and we can attach it for you :D
Now lets move on to this adorable tassel garland, I wanted something fun and inexpensive to bring you tactile fluffy joy this Christmas and this (slightly insane) Tassel Garland ended up being the answer to that. Available in Ruby Red, Natural White, Mink Blush, Mid Grey and Forest Green I’m hoping there’ll be a Christmas (or year round!) colour to suit you! They’re so fun on the mantel, round the tree, off the banister & on a headboard….All the bonkers tassel fun!
Giant Knit Tree Skirt
Let’s start at the bottom of the Tree and work our way up (wink wink…. that’s a hint about another product!) Now the Tree Skirt is an odd one because some people love them (me included) and others have never heard of them, I believe they’re ‘an american thing’ and I’m happy to jump on board and do anything to make my tree look more dreamy. These Tree Skirts are basically a blanket for the bottom of your tree to hide the ugly tree stand and lay all your presents out like you’re on a magazine set. They add texture, colour, luxe and cosy and can be used year after year. Have it plain or add pompoms - it’s totally up to you (obvs)
Crown Tree Topper
OMG I can’t believe I can finally talk about it out loud, on the internet - I’m so excited I might burst. This Crown Tree Topper sits on top of the tree LIKE A HALO. Available ready made in Gold (mustard but 'I’m calling it gold) and makes your tree proper posh and fancy! There’s not a lot more to say really other than -
IT’S A CROWN TREE TOPPER!
Crown …for people
(I’ll work on the name) If you need a crown to match your tree, or just to outshine the rest of your family then here they are at last! Children and Adults sizes available (No shame if, like me you’re a grown up who needs a child size one - small head, big brains I reckon) This year we’ll be doing away with wasteful cracker paper crowns in our house and on with the knitted numbers … But they’re not just for Christmas, no no - Birthday King’s and Queens are real all year round.
Oh and you can stick them on your pets too :p (I might have needed a model on Photoshoot day and he’s basically human so I just went all in, I do need to keep clarifying that they AREN’T JUST FOR DOGS though haha whoops!)
Welcome DIY Kits!
My excuse for launching the Christmas range a little early this year is that the DIY customers will need plenty of time to knit their knit kits. (Any excuse) having said that - Sadly this is the section that I’m behind on the most so I’ve not managed to get all the patterns listed yet but everything you see as a knit kit will be available as a stand alone pattern very soon and there will also be knit kits and patterns for the Jumbo Knit Santa Sack, the Jumbo Knit Christmas Stockings AND the eagerly anticipated Childrens Santa Hat pattern will finally be available!
If you’re after anything in particular let me know and I’ll prioritise it. For now, here’s what we’ve got for now, I really hope you like it - I’m really proud of this collection of Christmas Kits and can’t wait to see you whip them up…
Chunky Knit Crown Kit
Lets start in reverse from the ready mades! With the Crown Kit. Very soon this will be available with more options so (I’m going Used Car Salesman again…) The more you buy the more you save :p Then you can knit them for the whole family and everyone around the Christmas table. They’re beginner kits and unlike the ready made crowns, you can make these in any of the 18 colours available! When I (soon!) add the option for multiple crowns you can get one in every colour if you fancy!
Crown Tree Topper
Yep you guessed it! It’s the Crown Tree Topper as a kit too! So much fun and so satisfying when you get to put your handmade topper on the Christmas tree. They come with everything you need including the frame (another bespoke beauty made just for us by The Letter Loft) And again, the ready mades only come in Mustard but the Kits are available in any colour, plus you can personalise it (Whats that you ask?! Personalisation?! Read on my friend!…)
These are super exciting and perhaps a touch confusing so I’ll do my best. Just like the Decorations add-ons mentioned above, these Embellishment kits are currently just available to add onto an existing order and will be a separate independent price once I set up the listing (the pompom kit’s are already listed as you may know) Essentially you can add any of these kits on to Jazz up your knit kits! Here’s a quick breakdown:
Personalisation Kit - Instructions to help you ‘write’ words, messages, names etc in chain stitch (available in all Super Chunky colours)
Embellishment Kit - Instructions and inspiration for different stitches and embellishment techniques like tassels, fringing. (Available in sets - Brights, Blooms, Ombre & Christmas)
Pompom Kit - This is the pompom kit you know and love but as an add on so you can use it to make and add pompoms to your kits (Available in sets - Brights, Blooms, Ombre, & Christmas)
Pompom Embellishment Kit - The instructions for both the above kits and a set of colours so you can embellish and pompom to your hearts content! (Available in sets - Brights, Blooms, Ombre and Christmas)
Super Chunky Stockings Kits
With the above embellishment kits in mind, may I introduce you to the new Stocking Kits. These poppets were designed with simple Scandinavian Christmas styling in mind then I developed the Embellishment kits and went mental and I LOVE THEM. They can basically be whatever you want them to be - minimal, maximal, colourful, calm, scandi, personalised or adorned with decorations. There are potentially hundreds of different designs from this kit! You can make one for every member of the family, the same but different. Write names on, add a wire initial, make them all in a different colour…the world is your oyster with this stocking. Available in any of the 18 Super Chunky Colours then with or without any of the embellishment kits… Enjoy!
Knitted Advent Calendar
While we’re on stockings, shall we segway into this adorable creation? I think this is the most special kit this year because it can mean so much. A knitted advent calendar using little mini stockings for each day. I love the idea of how much thought and care and love would go into this while it’s being knit, it would be a bit of a labour of love but it would last so many years. Fill it with gifts, sweets or messages (fave idea) and hang it on one wall, up the stairs or around a whole room. It’s available in white only with red for the numbers and as a ‘12 days of Christmas’ or full advent calendar.
Adorable mini stockings
(The original Santa Hat Tree Topper was born from my love of making things in miniature, so these stockings were always going to happen.) Pitched as a ‘Mini Stocking Garland kit’ but actually so much more. These little stockings can absolutely be strung together to make a garland (If you wanted an advent calendar in another colour then here’s your plan!) You can hang the garland from the mantel, around the tree - anywhere you fancy a garland really! But you can also use this kit to make individual stockings. Hang them on the tree as decorations, use a Personalisation Kit to stitch letters into them and spell out a word, or my personal fave - use them as gift tags by tying them individually onto gifts. Stitch the first letter of the recipients name onto it or hide a little message inside - they can then use them as decoration on their own tree. HOW SPECIAL IS THAT?! Available in Ruby Red, Forest Green, Natural White, Mink Blush & Granite Grey
Super Chunky Christmas Sack
The last of the ‘Big Kits’ to introduce this evening is this Christmas Sack, a lovely beginners kit that eases new knitters in nicely while knitting up something special. Easy to make and beautiful once finished, use a personalisation kit to add a name or message to your Christmas sack. Available in any of the 18 colours of Super Chunky Yarn…
PomPom Kits Just got Festive
There’s been a small addition to the Pompom kits and there’s now a fabulous festive Christmas set available, Use them on your tree as decorations, string them together to make a garland or attach them to your gifts to make them extra special.
That’s all folks
I think that’s it for now although there’s still a lot to come (and I have a new jumper kit on the way that I’m LOVING whenever I get 5 minutes, will share it with you soon!)
A few Thank You’s because it seriously takes a village for me to get anything done - The photos are a mix of mine and the AMAZING Georgia de Lotz who managed to squeeze me in at the last minute a few weeks ago. We borrowed the beautiful house (and mantel) of The Blonde Blog and Georgia whizzed the pictures around to me so quickly. I’m so grateful to her and so had to just recommend her. She’s a dream to work with and I hope you agree, the photos are divine!
Thank you also to Alex, Helen, Sally and my marvellous team of knitters - I’d be lost without any of them (I know I’ve not won an oscar here but they’re magic and literally help me get through the day…) so THANK YOU TEAM LAD!
Feedback and things
I seriously hope you like it! Can’t tell you how nervous-excited I am! It’s all ended up a touch more complicated than we imagined so if you have any feedback or suggestions on simplifying the process or products I’m always happy to here them. Hopefully it’s relatively easy to understand and buy what you want.
I’m really sorry I’ve let you down by not getting it all out in time and what an almighty cock up the timing of the new premises has turned out to be - I promise I’ll get your orders out ASAP. We should be good for tomorrow if that helps?! haha then I’m hoping to get organised over the weekend - Wish me luck!
Merry Christmas Friends….Oh wait! :p
