Button (Kn)it Up Cardigan Pattern

Perfect for beginners this cosy and classic cardigan with additional buttons and pockets is a wardrobe staple. With instructions for 3 sizes (S, M & L) it fits UK size 6-24.

You can instantly download this PDF pattern to start knitting your own simple, beautiful and stylish ‘Button (kn)it Up Cardigan’. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced knitter we hope you’ll enjoy this quick and easy pattern and love wearing your cardigan for years to come.

It uses a combination of knit & purl stitches with some basic shaping. Should you need a helping hand, you can find extra direction and help over on my Knitting Knowledge page which covers it all in more detail. The pattern includes How to Knit instructions and should take around 10 hours to make (although it may take longer for beginners)

Once you've experienced how simple it is to create, you can have one in every colour - but be prepared for everyone you know to ask for one! :p (Luckily they’re fast and fun to make and they would indeed make the most incredible gift!)

Please note that this knitting pattern is for personal use only and not for resale in any capacity. It is a downloadable file and does not include any of the materials required to make the cardigan. There is a knitting kit for this pattern available on my site should you want the needles and yarn also.

I now have a Facebook group for those of you who have bought a kit or pattern from me, so please do come and show me your knits!

Knit & Purl (+some basic shaping)

Sizes:

Small: UK 6-12, approximately 55cm wide x 50cm long

Medium: UK 12-18, approximately 65cm wide x 50cm long

Large: UK 18-24, approximately 76cm wide x 50cm long

We ALWAYS recommend doing a tension swatch to make sure your tension matches the gauge of the pattern and if not you can adapt the pattern accordingly.

Once you’ve checked your tension we also recommend measuring one of your existing tops to see how it compares. If you’d like it slouchy you can size up (for instance, I’m a size 8-10 and the Lilac cardigan pictured is a Small, the fuchsia cardigan is a Medium. I personally prefer the fit of the Medium. Helen is a size 16 and wears the Fuchsia Medium and has also made a Large that is lovely and slouchy)

550g/650g/800g (S/M/L) Super Chunky Yarn in the colour of your choice by Lauren Aston Designs
