The new Jumbo Yarn is a lovely middle ground for chunky without being gigantic. Ideal for both soft furnishings and accessories, it grows really quickly and the Jumbo 25mm Knitting Needles (also available on the site) are easy to use once you get going – Like the Giant Knitting Needles (40mm) they can feel a little clumsy to begin with due to the larger size but you soon get used to the feel of them and then you’ll be away, whipping up scarves, cushions and santa hats in no time!

I used this Jumbo yarn for 5 makes from my Super Chunky Knits book, it’s really great for a wide range of projects and it’s great size means it’s chunky, speedy and a good wearable gauge.

Delivery time will depend on whether I have the colour in stock at the time or not. If I don’t then please allow around 2 weeks and if so then you should receive your wool within 1 week. Please feel free to get in touch to see which colours I have in stock at the time.

Comes in balls of 500g (approximately)

We source our yarn from happy sheep. Due to its many magical properties and the fact that Lauren is allergic to a lot of other wool, we only use Merino.

Merino sheep are not native to this country so the wool itself is provided from farms around the world, however we are very careful where we do source our fibre from. Our Merino is from South America and the South African Cape and we don’t buy from farms that mules their sheep.

The best quality wool comes from happy sheep.  If a sheep has a poor diet and general poor health its fleece will suffer. Both the quality of life for the sheep and the quality of wool it produces are hugely important to us. We have strong relationships with our suppliers to ensure that we can trust them and their practices. Merinos shearers are all trained well to do it as efficiently and kindly as possible and the sheep are a lot happier once their 5kg fleeces are off!

You can now choose to have your yarn in a hank or a ball!

Our Great Balls of Yarn are beautifully wound so you can start knitting straight away. Instead of spending your valuable time winding them yourself when you could be starting on your latest project, or having the worry of tangling up while you’re knitting, these balls are expertly and beautifully wound by us, for you.

Each hank/ball is around 200g (and 130m) and is best knit on 10mm-15mm needles.

If you choose to stick with hanks of yarn, most of our customers find it easier to wind them before knitting. Snip the ties holding the hank together and you’ll find the end of the yarn. Pop it over the back of a chair, a door handle or your knees and wind into a ball, before starting your knitting.
