Our Next test knit: The Off-Piste Sweater
This Big Little Yarn jumper uses stranded colourwork, and simple shaping on circular knitting needles to create a colourful and scandi inspired sweater.
It’s knit from the top down on circular needles, you start with a small single rib for the neckline which doubles over to create a cosy roll neck. You then slowly increase to shape the shoulders whilst introducing the colourwork design.
Once you get to the right size you to hold the sleeve stitches. You then work the body continuing in the round following the colourwork design until you reach your desired length. You have the option of finishing with a rib trim.
Upon finishing the body, you go back to the sleeves, picking up stitches and continuing the colourwork. – You again have the option of adding a rib to the cuffs or casting them off after decreasing to cinch them in.
This pattern is suitable for intermediate to advanced knitters. It is knit in the round and uses knit stitch, rib stitch, make one increase, and stranded colourwork.
The jumper should take around 15 hours to complete.
What we need from you...
We are looking for a range of sizes and colours to be knit up so will be choosing a selection from all applications submitted.
We will provide you with yarn and any tools you require (if you don’t already have them.) Following the completion of the test knit, we’ll send you a questionnaire asking for feedback on the pattern/knit.
- Skill level: Intermediate- Advanced
- Tools needed: 8mm circular needles (40cm & 60cm cord) / 6mm Circular needles (40cm & 60cm cord) / 1 x stitch markers / stitch holders (or waste yarn) / Tapestry Needle
- Deadline: 15th March 2024
We will notify you via email if we need you to knit for us, and then will need your address to send the yarn to.
We will need the Jumper finished by 15th March latest with feedback, amendments and photos by then too.
