Beginners Boatneck Jumper
We’ve updated our popular beginners jumper pattern to accommodate more sizes and to add the option of one colour or two!
This classic boatneck jumper is the perfect simple knit kit. It is perfect for beginner or confident knitters who want an uncomplicated project to do in front of the TV. Its loose boxy fit makes it a real fashion staple – it’s warm, cosy and wears well with any outfit.
The jumper has textured rib stitches for the cuffs and hem and is finished with a really simple Boatneck so no shaping is required for the neckline. Alternatively, you could leave the neckline open more on one side to style it as an off the shoulder jumper.
You can choose to knit the jumper in one colour or use a second colour for the sleeves. Go for classic neutrals so that it goes with everything or add an injection of personality with vibrant complementing colours!
Suitable for sizes 6-28, this Jumper will look perfect with shorts, skirts or jeans and also looks fab over a polo neck. Choose the colour you love the most and prepare yourself to never take this off! This kit is simple enough for a beginner knitter, but is also enjoyable for those more experienced knitters – using basic stitches of knit and purl with a small amount of shaping.

All of our kits come in a 100% natural cotton, ethically sourced LAD bag stuffed to the brim with;
- 800g Super Chunky Yarn in the colours of your choice by Lauren Aston Designs – available in hanks or balls*
- (optional) 300g second colour for sleeves Super Chunky Yarn by Lauren Aston Designs (replacing 200g of the main colour – making 900g yarn total)
- Knitting pattern (if hard copy selected)
- (optional) 12mm knitting needles (35cm long)
- (optional) Tapestry Needle
You can now choose to have your yarn in a hank or a ball!
Our Great Balls of Yarn are beautifully wound so you can start knitting straight away. Instead of spending your valuable time winding them yourself when you could be starting on your latest project, or having the worry of tangling up while you’re knitting, these balls are expertly and beautifully wound by us, for you.
Each hank/ball is around 200g (and 130m) and is best knit on 10mm-15mm needles.
If you choose to stick with hanks of yarn, most of our customers find it easier to wind them before knitting. Snip the ties holding the hank together and you’ll find the end of the yarn. Pop it over the back of a chair, a door handle or your knees and wind into a ball, before starting your knitting.
