‘Simply the Vest’ Sweater Vest
A super snug sweater vest with a gorgeous double roll neck and striking rib design. Perfect for mid season dressing, as it’s not as warm as a jumper but still keeps you cosy. Show off your sleeves and layer over long or short tops, dresses, jeans or shorts.
Choose from a longer roll neck for extra cosy comfort, or keep it low with a crew neck for warmer days. The design is finished with a side split and we’ve styled it with a longer back than front – but you also have the choice of no split / same length all round. It’s so versatile, you can make it to suit your wardrobe and your style.
The sweatervest is really generous in sizing. Size small will go up to a size 12 very comfortably. Chloe (size 6/8) wears both a small & medium in pictures. Helen has worn a size medium at a size 16, and has plenty of room. So size down for a more fitted style, but you won’t need to size up if you’re inbetween sizes.
This kit is an intermediate design so not suitable for beginners. A large part of the pattern is shaping the neckline and chest, making stitches to the right & the left to produce the gentle rib shaping that follows the vest down.
It’s also knit in the round (with back and forth on the front and bottom when splitting for arms/bottom rib) so no sewing up required! Just a bit of weaving in of ends so you’re ready to wear as soon as you’ve finished knitting.
It’s a lovely project if you like a bit of a challenge and with so many gorgeous colours to choose from in our Super Chunky Yarn, and a number of variations in styling, it’ll be a beauty to wear too!
Images show: Size Small in Light Grey: Roll Neck, Split and back longer than front / Size Medium in Mulberry: Crew Neck, No split and same length all round / Size Medium in Natural White: Roll Neck, Split and same length all round.
All sizes are approximate based on tension and the stretch of the yarn. Also please note that the armholes are very wide so that will add to sizing. The sweatervest is very generous in size.

Medium – UK 12-16 / Approx 60cm wide

You can now choose to have your yarn in a hank or a ball!
Our Great Balls of Yarn are beautifully wound so you can start knitting straight away. Instead of spending your valuable time winding them yourself when you could be starting on your latest project, or having the worry of tangling up while you’re knitting, these balls are expertly and beautifully wound by us, for you.
Each hank/ball is around 200g (and 130m) and is best knit on 10mm-15mm needles.
If you choose to stick with hanks of yarn, most of our customers find it easier to wind them before knitting. Snip the ties holding the hank together and you’ll find the end of the yarn. Pop it over the back of a chair, a door handle or your knees and wind into a ball, before starting your knitting.
