Five yarny things to make for your festive table

Hello lovelies!

Hosting Christmas this year? Impress your guests with these five yarny delights that you can have on your dinner table.

1. Treemendous Table Runner

We have to kick off with our brand new Treemendous Table Runner pattern. It really is glorious and sets the scene perfectly for your festive table display. Available in three different lengths, there should be a length that suits all party sizes. This pattern suits an intermediate knitter as the colourwork is done in an intarsia style. The colourwork grids are included in the pattern so you can choose to place your trees where, and facing what direction you like. Knit in our Big Little Yarn that is machine washable so you don’t have to panic when someone spills the gravy! We have knit this table runner in Oat & Nettle but the BLY comes in some fantastic colours so you might want to mix things up and match to the colour theme you are planning. The make time is around 4-12 hours so hopefully you can set aside a weekend before now and Christmas to get that made!

2. Chunky Knit Crown

Always a favourite at this time of year are the Chunky Knit Crowns. A super easy pattern to follow and perfect for beginner knitters. They are a more sustainable option to Christmas crackers and can be used over and over again. A great pattern to learn the basics of knitting and shaping and they are seriously addictive once you get the hang of it! Knit in the LAD Super Chunky Yarn giving you endless colour options to choose from. You could even dedicate a colour to a certain friend or family member to mix things up a bit. If you do want to cheat or you have a particularly large guest list then you can also get LAD to make up the numbers with the pre-made crown option. We have also just added a Celebration Crown Yarn Set to the collection if you would like just enough yarn to make a set of six crowns. These sets include limited edition colours, oooooooh!

3. Super Chunky Christmas Trees

Next up we have our Super Chunky Christmas Trees. Now these can become the perfect centerpiece for your table. You might want to cluster them in the centre of the table or dot them around. They are so sweet and quick to make in under an hour but would suit an intermediate or advanced knitter as they are knit on double pointed needles. The kit comes with enough materials for a set of five trees but once you get the hang of it you might want to go on and make a whole forest! Choose Forest or Ruby if you are going for a traditional colour scheme but If you are going more bold, Mustard or Bright Pink trees look really cool! We’ll leave that part up to you. Weave fairy lights or set baubles amongst them to make a whole festive display.

4. Pom Pom Wreath Kit

Alternatively, another centrepiece option is the LAD Pompom Wreath which is quite spectacular with candles or lights set in the middle of it (be careful with flames obvs). Maybe you want to pop your fizz in the centre of it, depends what vibe you are going for. The best part of this kit is that anyone can make it! It will take about 4-12 hours to make but pom poms are SO fun and easy to make and if you don’t already have pom pom makers then don’t panic a small maker comes in the kit. If you want to mix up the sizes and add some small and big pom poms to your wreath then you can add another maker to your kit. The wreath comes with six of our bestselling Christmas colours to mix and match in all your pom poms!

5. Mini Stockings Pattern

Finally, make cute little place settings with the Mini Stockings Pattern with optional personalisation. Maybe you have some odd yarn hanging around at home that you’re not sure what to do with, this could be the answer! If you don’t have any yarn then choose from the massive collection of LAD Super Chunky Yarn colours. Will you keep it traditional or go wild? This is a super speedy knit but is more suited to an intermediate knitter as there are parts of pick up and knit and shaping required. Impress your friends by stitching their initial on the front for a really unique place setting.

We hope that has given you a few ideas for your knit-tastic Christmas table! Don’t forget to show us your festive knits by tagging @laurenastondesignsstudios on Instagram! We love seeing what you have been getting up to.

Take care x
