Shaping, Knit, Purl
You can instantly download this PDF pattern to start knitting your own simple, beautiful and stylish ‘Button (kn)it Up Cardigan’. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced knitter we hope you’ll enjoy this quick and easy pattern and love wearing your cardigan for years to come.
It uses a combination of knit & purl stitches with some basic shaping and has additional buttons & pockets should you wish to add them. The pattern has instructions for 3 sizes (S, M & L) and it fits UK size 6-24.
Once you’ve experienced how simple it is to create, you can have one in every colour – but be prepared for everyone you know to ask for one! :p (Luckily they’re fast and fun to make and they would indeed make the most incredible gift!)
Small (UK 6-12): 55cm wide x 50cm long approx
Medium (UK 12-18): 65cm wide x 50cm long approx
Large (UK 18-24): 76cm wide x 50cm long approx
We ALWAYS recommend doing a tension swatch to make sure your tension matches the gauge of the pattern and if not you can adapt the pattern accordingly.
If you’d like it slouchy you can size up (for instance, I’m a size 8-10 and the Lilac cardigan pictured is a Small, the fuchsia cardigan is a Medium. I personally prefer the fit of the Medium. Helen is a size 16 and wears the Fuchsia Medium and has also made a Large that is lovely and slouchy)
