Diagonal Stitch Cushion Kit
Our Diagonal Stitch Cushion Knit Kit made its first introduction in our Super Chunky Knits book. It is a gorgeous home accessory created using two complementing colours and stitches. If you already know how to knit and purl then you’ll be able to complete this in no time at all!
The knit kit contains all you need to make this cushion cover, including the option to add a cushion pad. Choose from our range of 25 delicious colours of Lauren Aston Designs super chunky merino yarn (although this will be the hardest bit of the whole kit – those colours!!)
Suitable for a confident beginner, you will be able to change yarn colours mid-row, which is a great introduction if you want to go on to do colourwork. You will be using a combination of two different stitches, and finish by sewing up your panels with a beautiful blanket stitch (in optional contrasting colour pop.)
The Diagonal Stitch Cushion looks incredible on a sofa or a bed, and with the 100% merino yarn being super soft it’s perfect to cuddle. A lovely year round project to keep for yourself or give as a gift!

We source our Merino yarn from happy sheep.
Merino sheep are not native to this country so the wool itself is provided from farms around the world, however, we are very careful where we do source our fibre from. Our Merino is from South America and the South African Cape and we don’t buy from farms that mules their sheep.
The best quality of wool comes from happy sheep. If a sheep has a poor diet and general poor health its fleece will suffer. Both the quality of life for the sheep and the quality of wool it produces are hugely important to us. We have strong relationships with our suppliers to ensure that we can trust them and their practices. Merino shearers are all trained well to do it as efficiently and kindly as possible and the sheep are a lot happier once their 5kg fleeces are off!
You can now choose to have your yarn in a hank or a ball!
Our Great Balls of Yarn are beautifully wound so you can start knitting straight away. Instead of spending your valuable time winding them yourself when you could be starting on your latest project, or having the worry of tangling up while you’re knitting, these balls are expertly and beautifully wound by us, for you.
Each hank/ball is around 200g (and 130m) and is best knit on 10mm-15mm needles.
If you choose to stick with hanks of yarn, most of our customers find it easier to wind them before knitting. Snip the ties holding the hank together and you’ll find the end of the yarn. Pop it over the back of a chair, a door handle or your knees and wind into a ball, before starting your knitting.
