‘Simply the Vest’ Sweater Vest
This instant download PDF pattern talks you through how to create this super snug sweater vest.
With a cosy double roll neck and delicate rib design this knit is perfect for the warmer days – layer with long sleeves and jeans or throw on over a floaty dress for a little bit of warmth! It’s so versatile, you can make it to suit your wardrobe and your style.
The pattern talks you through the different options for the sweater vest – you can knit a longer roll neck for extra cosy, or keep it shorter in a crew neck style. You can have splits with differing lengths on front and back, or you can go for no splits and the same length all round.
The vest can be knit to your chosen length, but the 4 different sizes included in the pattern accommodate UK sizes 6-28. It’s also very generous in sizing, so if you’re inbetween sizes you don’t need to size up, and if you’d like it more fitted, you can go down a size.
The vest is knit in the round so no sewing up required! It’s a lovely project if you like a bit of a challenge – a large part of the pattern is shaping the neckline and chest, making stitches to the right & the left to produce the gentle rib shaping that follows the vest down. The pattern is an intermediate design so we wouldn’t recommend this for beginners.
Images show: Size Small in Light Grey: Roll Neck, Split and back longer than front / Size Medium in Mulberry: Crew Neck, No split and same length all round / Size Medium in Natural White: Roll Neck, Split and same length all round.
All sizes are approximate based on tension and the stretch of the yarn. Also please note that the armholes are very wide so that will add to sizing. The sweatervest is very generous in size.
Small – UK 6-10 / Approx 45cm wide
Medium – UK 12-16 / Approx 60cm wide
Large – UK 18-22 / Approx 65cm wide
X Large – UK 24-28 / Approx 75cm wide
You decide how long you’d like your sweater vest to be, and whether you’d like the back the same or longer than the front.
